The five numbers every creator should know weekly

The five numbers every creator should know weekly

Overview

Almost every creator can tell you their follower count. Almost none can tell you their renewal rate. That is backwards, and it is the clearest single difference between accounts that plateau and accounts that compound.

Below are the five numbers worth checking every week. None of them are follower count.

Renewal rate

How many of last month's subscribers are still here this month. Growth means nothing if the bucket leaks faster than you fill it, and this is the only number that tells you whether it does.

Revenue per subscriber

Total income divided by active subscribers. It tells you whether you are growing an audience or growing a business. Those are not the same thing, and only one of them pays.

If your audience doubled and your revenue did not, you did not grow. You just got busier.

Message conversion

Of the people who message you, how many actually spend. For most accounts this is the single largest untapped line of revenue, and it is untapped for one reason: nobody has the hours to work it properly.

Content bank depth

How many days of edited, ready-to-post content you have sitting there right now. Under two weeks and you are always shooting to a deadline, which is the fastest route to burnout and the slowest route to quality.

Top spender concentration

What share of your revenue comes from your top two percent. If you cannot name those people, you are one quiet month away from finding out why that matters.

Where to start

You do not need a dashboard. A spreadsheet checked every Monday will do.

  • Pick one number and track it for four weeks before adding a second.
  • Compare month to month, never week to week. Weekly noise will mislead you.
  • Write down what you changed each month, so a movement has a cause.

Track these five for ninety days and you will make better decisions than any amount of posting harder will get you.
